DEAD MAN'S JEST
As an attendee of PIRATES of the KINGDOM, you received Dead Man's Jest, a delightful multi-part event piece! This treasure chest is filled with treasures to warm the heart of any HK collector. Our chest, carved by Monique Baldwin, holds miniature versions of two figurines treasured by all: Back Scratch and Panda. The mini figurines set inside the open chest are removable. On the outside another treasure is seen coming out of the chest - the Shark. Inside you will find a list of the treasures held within the chest.
The edition size was expected to be limited to 200 figurines. The prototype shown may vary slightly from the production box figurine.
DEAD MAN'S JEST II
Each year we have a second version of an event figurine used to offset the costs of the event and to raise money for charity. This year we added extra spice to the offer. Dead Man's Jest II will be shrink-wrapped. It is available at a cost of $65 each. In addition to the one second version of the event figurine shown here, this box figurine will have three other variations. Fifteen (15%) percent of the figurines will have a color variation, 15% will be a mold variation and ONE will be a jeweled version.
Monique has removed the Shark from the front of the chest and replaced the second HK cat box, Back Scratch, with the first HK dog box, the Elusive Few Shaggy Dog. Inside is a Mouseketeer's hat and piles of money earmarked for charity.
Every attendee (Buccaneers, Mateys, and Swabbies) had the right to purchase up to two Dead Man's Jest II figurines. The edition size will be determined when we know how many pre-orders are received by October 1, 2007. After that date orders were taken on a first come basis, depending on how many are remaining on the total number ordered. If you ordered yours before the event, any that remain once the convention starts were offered to all attendees on a lottery basis.
PEGLEG PETE
How do
you get him? Peter Calvesbert brought his whole family to Orlando and the event. To raise money for the trip, Peter produced this pirate version of himself. HOP is assisting Peter by selling this wonderful tribute to our event for him. Sam and Millie will enjoy two weeks in the world of Disney, and all of the many other places to partake in within the area.
Every attendee, whether a Buccaneer, a Matey, or a Swabbie, could have ordered up to two Pegleg Pete pendants. The cost was $25 each. It must have been payed in advance and you received your piece(s) when you checked in at the convention.
SNATCH & GRAB
Crowne Plaza "Right-to-Buy" Figurine. One of the cost factors for any convention is the meeting rooms, storage space, and Hospitality Suite that are tied to the total rooms we book at the hotel. In order to entice our attendees to stay at our host hotel, HOP offered attendees the right-to-buy a special figurine for those whom were registered at the hotel on Friday and Saturday nights, April 11th and 12th.
Meet Snatch & Grab, exclusive to Crowne Plaza guests. Our monkey is enjoying the loot he snatched from the nearby ship. Unfortunately he's sitting on the crocodile who grabbed Captain Hook's hand many moons ago. Do you think the croc will go for Snatch's hand or his loot this time? "How do I get one?" you ask. You must have been a registered guest at the hotel both nights. If there were people with different last names in the room, everyone wanting to obtain Snatch & Grab should have their name on the room. The hotel allows four people in a room at the rate for one.
The image shown was the prototype before the piece was turned into a box. There were some minor changes and the color was different. The cost of the box was $55. You could have ordered the piece in advance. However, the pieces were not distributed until Sunday morning; after we have verified the hotel booking list for our event.
PILLAGE
Pillage, the blue parrot, related to Loot and Plunder, was a pendant available to collectors attending the optional outings on Thursday, April 10, 2008. If you attended more than one of the outings, you'll receive this pendant for each of them. Those optional outings include: the Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour; the "Behind the Scenes" Tour of Universal Studios; and the Pirate's Dinner Adventure. All three pendants were carved by Monique Baldwin, and are only available with the PIRATES of the KINGDOM event.
LOOT AND/OR PLUNDER
The local HK collector club in the Tampa Bay area, Harmony Florida Suncoast Collectors Club (HFS), wanted to welcome all of the visitors to their part of the world. The officers and members of the HFS club and their sponsors cordially invited you to their Welcome Reception on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, on the patio, by the pool, at the Crowne Plaza.
The event started at 7:30 PM and ended at 10:00 PM with door prizes and raffles. It was a reception with a cash bar where Master Carver Peter Calvesbert attended. Peter was anxious to spend time getting to know you, so he did not sign pieces at this event.
To offer the reception free to the attendees, the club had a special figurine, Plunder, for purchase that assisted in helping pay the costs. Plunder is a red parrot carved by Monique Baldwin that cost $25. It was limited to one per person attending the convention. You did not have to be at the Welcome Reception to obtain this colorful parrot. He is the brother to Pillage, which collectors attending the Optional Outings received on Thursday.
HFS has a strong dedication to charity and sought an opportunity to benefit their local charities; Florida Baptist Children's Homes in Lakeland, Florida, and Friends of Strays, Inc. in St. Petersburg, Florida. They have commissioned Loot, a green parrot, as their charity fundraiser. Loot is also related to Pillage and Plunder and can be purchased from HFS for $25 as well.
