The HK House of Peers offered you the opportunity to win a pair of rare prototypes of Brain Trust; Harmony Kingdom Treasure Jests. The funds raised in this auction will be used to support HOP's activities on behalf of the Independent HK Collector Clubs.
(Gray) — Brain Trust Prototypes — (Brown)
Brain Trust (TJOW3) was carved by Master Carver Peter Calvesbert and released in 2004. The fixed edition of 2,500 included a surprise color variation of only 250 pieces. The main coloration was gray with brown wingtips and ear feathers. The variation was the reverse—a light brown with gray wingtips and ear feathers.

The pieces in this auction are examples of both color variations. Brain Trust pays homage to all owl varieties, and the names of well-known owl varieties are carved on the base of these lifelike fellows.

Inside, a remarkable event that took place on June 8, 2004, is commemorated: The transit of Venus. This refers to the day Venus passed directly between Earth and our Sun, the first time this phenomenon has occurred since 1882.

The base of the gray owls is marked PETE'S OWL # 001 and the letter P; the base of the brown owls is marked TJOW3 chnge [sic] # 002.

Both pieces are signed by the artist, Peter Calvesbert. Collectors should note that Pete's signature mouse does not appear on this piece. Since mice are a favored snack for owls, it does make you wonder...
