The HK House of Peers offered you the
opportunity to win a rare prototype of Desert Serenade. The funds
raised in this auction will be used to support HOP's activities on
behalf of the HK Independent Collector Clubs.

Desert Serenade Prototype
Desert Serenade was given
to collectors who attended the HK CORRAL collector event held in Phoenix, Arizona, in October 2006. The total
edition size for the event piece was only 225. The prototype auctioned
here is one of five that were made; the other four were given as
prizes at the event.

Desert Serenade Prototype
This piece
was originally carved in 2002 as a possible entry in Lord Byron's Harmony Garden series. Sherman Drackett carved the original exterior and Monique
Baldwin carved the original interior, so their hallmarks appear on the
piece. When it was decided to use it for the event, certain changes
were made to fit the theme of the HK CORRAL.
For example, cacti were added to the bouquet in place of more
conventional blooms, and an interior was added that fit the event's
Western theme.
The Desert Serenade piece in
this auction is an intermediate version - further changes were made
before the event. For example:
