The HK House of Peers and
Harmony Kingdom offered you the
opportunity to win a solid body prototype of
Boom Box, carved by Master Carver Peter Calvesbert. At the same time you would be
assisting NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill), a grass roots
organization dedicated to eradicating mental illness and improving the
quality of life for those affected by these diseases.

Boom Box was issued as a
box figurine in a fixed edition size of 5000 pieces worldwide in the
fall of 2003. Carved by
Master Carver Peter Calvesbert, Boom Box
was produced in England. The Boom Box
offered here is a solid body prototype.

HK Secrets: What better fish to
turn into a box figurine than the boxfish. Box fish are also known as "Neutron
Bomb" fish for the toxic substance they release to protect themselves when
frightened. Spring in England is heralded by the call of the cuckoo as it
arrives from Africa. (Peter Calvesbert spotted one on 22 April, as indicated on
the rocks. The interior of the figurine is laid out like an aquarium. "F.L."
stands for Fat Larry, aka "Zoom," the name of Peter's goldfish when he lived in
London. The mouse is in danger of becoming a boxfish snack.)

This solid body prototype differs
in several ways from the actual production piece.
- There is no interior,
so the references to Fat Larry (above secrets) and the mouse are missing.
- The
references to the Cuckoo and the date (above secrets) are not on the
rocks.
- There are
no hallmarks.
- The bottom of the base
is marked BOX FISH PROTOTYPE.
