Unbelievable Charity Success in Newport!
Hello everyone who had anything to do with our HK House of Peers event in Newport. The efforts of the Committee members, volunteers, donors, sponsors, supporters, and especially the attendees resulted in a phenomenal support for charity. In 2008 we raised $33,000 for charity with over 200 people attending the events. This year we had almost half the number of attendees, but we managed to amass a substantial amount.
We closed the books on the event yesterday and I'm pleased to announce the results. Our total charity donation for 2009 is...
$29,550
NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is receiving $15,000, the Potter League for Animals is receiving $14,000, and the American Diabetes Association will receive $550.
We have earned a bench with our name on it at the Potter League. A suggestion has been made for the name on the bench to be "Harmony Kingdom Collectors." Please let us know your feelings. This is the same as we requested for the room plaque at the Florida Baptist Children's Homes last year.
Thanks again to everyone who made it happen. Please pat yourself on the back for a good job done!
Leanna Barron
President, HK House of Peers
* In a reply to Leanna's email, Noel Wiggins offered this vote of confidence:
Leanna, it is so amazing what you and your team do to keep the charitable juices flowing. It makes us feel so happy to think of the people these donations help. Thanks again for making these events happen!
